JORIS DERICKSEN BRINCKERHOFF, the ancestor of the Brinckerhoff family in America, was likely born as in the county of Dreuthe, Holland, in 1609.
He married Susannah Dubbels, and in 1638 came to America, settling in New Amsterdam.
An amazingly early pair of shoes not often found on the open market! so often these shoes are found with the thin ribbons gone. As is normal, these shoes will need to be stuffed to display, otherwise they collapse to nearly flat (see photo)... He married Susannah Dubbels, and in 1638 came to America, settling in New Amsterdam.
He intended to settle on Staten Island and did purchase land there, but one day going to look the property over with his sons, one of the sons was shot by the Indians, and this caused him to give up the project, and he went back to New Amsterdam.
A lovely silk gown from an era getting harder to find!
Measures: 30" bust, 22" waist bodice, 25" waist skirt, 40 long skirt in front, 42" long in back.
These items came directly from the on-site auction of the Brinckerhoff mansion! The condition is Excellent (there are two couple minor holes - see photo - and a few tiny leg breaks and a few extreme minor old repairs) but at 200 years old... May have been worn as a wedding shawl, as it was part of a "lot" that included the dress, mitts, veil, and man's vest.
This all lace net shawl is 100" long x 20" wide with scalloped edges... Additional items from this estate are a calash and young girl's Regency dress.
Our stand out point is catering to people who are unable to obtain their requests due to the sellers not shipping products outside their demography. These items came directly from the on-site auction of the Brinckerhoff mansion!
