Updating garmin 430w nav data
I initially had the old PCMCIA Skybound or whatever the thing was called.3 years ago I got the newer Skybound USB programmer. In any case, it seems like it has always been cantankerous to get it to work smoothly.
These databases must be purchased directly from Garmin, and programmed with Garmin’s proprietary card programmer (“USB Aviation Data Card Programmer”) – the Jeppesen Skybound programmer will not work.
You can get them from Stein, Stark and even Vans offers it for ,775.
Stark or Stein will probably have better price than Van's.
Thanks Bill -flying -6A and moving to Dallas in a few weeks...
The list price of the GNS-430w is ,995, I think.
(I'm overseas 6 months out of the year and hate to waste 6 months of update costs) 2) What does Garmin charge for the updates (either annually or per monthly update?
